The use of personalised 3D-printed kidney models as an educational mediation tool demonstrated a positive impact on patients’ understanding of their pathology and surgical procedure, leading to greater satisfaction throughout their care pathway. Given the diversity in patients’ cultural and social backgrounds, this heterogeneity must be considered when assessing the patient–healthcare professional relationship.

The objective of the PERSONALIZE study is to assess the impact of using a 3D-printed kidney model—personalised or generic—as a mediation tool throughout the care pathway, focusing on patient experience and interactions with healthcare professionals.

A total of 36 patients have been included in the study to date.
